Kent police said they located the body of the 54-year-old Connecticut man floating in the middle of Lake Carmel around 5:30 a.m., Monday, July 22. Neither his identity nor place of residence have been released.
The man disappeared after telling his wife he was going swimming Saturday afternoon, July 20, but then never returned home.
A massive search ensured with .first responders from numerous agencies including Lake Carmel firefighters, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, the New York State Police, the Westchester County Police Department, the Carmel Fire Department, and the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department and Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department dive teams.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the unnamed man's cause of death.
Officials said the lake, which had been closed to swimmers on Sunday, has reopened.
